Assault for no reason?

Burnt eyes and ruptured face, 

She went through a lot, 

But now, it’s the world she can’t face.

     The words put a sharp edge of blade on our hearts. It’s the same effect we have after hearing about an acid attack victim.

     It’s been few hours, since I heard about the case in Bandra. Some Delhi based girl was attacked at Bandra terminus with a strong acid. Sources say that the assaulter had proposed the girl for marriage but she refused. Is this the reason? It is not yet proclaimed about the accused. Whatever it may be, whatever may be the reason, but does it sound justifiable?

  Some months ago, I heard about the acid attack case in Uttar Pradesh, a girl was attacked as she refused to pay heeds to the obscene demands of ‘savage’ men in her locality. Her life was ruined. The bright girl was punished for no reason. She paid heed to her qualms and perceptions rather than being coward. But she wasn’t acclaimed! She was punished. The acid burnt her. For years, she was just a half dead body waiting for a miracle to wake her up.

     A big satire about this issue is that the acid is the cheapest product available to ruin someone’s life. The victim is ruptured. The main fact to be given heed to is, most of the times, it is the male ego or male chauvinism that brings such cases into picture. The girl is helpless. Anytime, anywhere, anyone can attack her as she is determined about her decisions in her life. She won’t pay attention to trivial demands from trivial people around her? And why would she?
   All these years, we have heard about cases of rape, molestation, acid attacks, and murders. All these remind us about the sick mentality of Indian men. Women for them aren’t humans; they don’t have their own mind. And if any woman has, she can’t have it anymore. She has to be punished.

    We can’t just sit and watch these reports flashing on our screens anymore. It’s a high time to bear this injustice. If women are given rights, they have to be paid attention to. If acid has high hydrogen potency, we have a greater potent mind to fight against it.
